EIGHT MONTH-IVERSARY
(Holidays, Holidays, Holidays!)
(Holidays, Holidays, Holidays!)
December 14th marks
eight months since we opened St Francis Cottage, and the time has flown
by. We are amazed as we look at the framed map (as suggested by one of
our guests) full of pins marking the home towns of our amazing guests,
and we are thankful for each and every person who has entered our
doors. From New Zealand, to Germany; from Canada to Florida, New York
to Oregon, California to Massachusetts and, of course, Tennessee,
Georgia, Alabama, and many other states, we have enjoyed meeting so many
interesting and kind people.
North meets South: Kevin & Karen from Long Island, Sue & Larry from Hendersonville, TN |
Wanda & Len all the way from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada |
Carsten & Stephanie came from Germany for five days prepping for and entering the Ironman 70.3 International Finals. |
Bigson joined us for two days while in the States from New Zealand to attend an anti-bullying conference in Nashville. |
By Sunday evenings we are physically
tired but emotionally and spiritually uplifted after having the
opportunity to host the fine guests who have stayed at the Cottage. As
we decorated for Christmas, we realized that we are quickly approaching
the end of our first year of innkeeping, and what a GOOD year it has
been! Many, many thanks to all our fine guests who have made our dream
possible.
Many
of you have met our eight-month old pygmy goat, Alice, who has a
triple-A personality and is definitely not a timid goat. Realizing that
any herd animal should not be alone, we began our search to find a
playmate for Alice. We finally found an ad for another female pygmy
goat, so Snowflake came to live with us in early November.
Nancy, Snowflake & Alice enjoying a beautiful, sunny fall afternoon. |
Snowflake is
absolutely adorable and sweet, however, once she has enough of Alice’s
pranks, she lets her have a good head butt and merrily goes about her
day. We love Snowflake and Alice dearly, and they’ve settled into a
daily routine of exploring, napping, grazing and enjoying their treats
of Alfalfa pellets and Corn Flakes. They’ll put on a good show for you
after breakfast, when we allow them to venture over to the Cottage for
some fun.
THANKSGIVING WITH THE HENIZE FAMILY
THANKSGIVING WITH THE HENIZE FAMILY
What a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration we had hosting the Henize Family Reunion, to celebrate Larry Henize’s 90th Birthday.
Believe me, nothing can slow down Larry and Marge Henize, and they are
truly amazing, upbeat, positive, and wonderfully rare people. We first
met Mr. and Mrs. Henize in 1988 when we gathered with Habitat for
Humanity friends, Bob and Karen (Henize) Geiger and Ken and Nancy Keefer
for a weekend getaway at the Henize mountain retreat in North
Carolina.

Our children, Hannah and Michael, have great memories sliding
down the Posey Hole rapids and enjoying great vacation moments with
these special families. It was truly an honor to host the Henize Family
Reunion almost 30 years later and catching up with Bob, Karen, Caroline
and Rebecca Geiger, Mr. and Mrs. Henize, and Karen’s extended family
from Texas and Florida.
